Purpose
This is a research study of women’s experiences during and after breast cancer treatment. The purpose of this study is to understand better whether chemotherapy and estrogen level affect thinking processes such as memory and attention, anxious and depressed mood, sleep quality, or fatigue. This information will be used to understand better the effects of chemotherapy treatment among women with breast cancer.
We are recruiting women ages 21-50 who meet the following criteria: diagnosis of and curative surgery for early-stage breast cancer (Stage I to III)to be followed by chemotherapy; OR women who have been diagnosed with benign breast disease (such as fibroadenoma or atypical ductal hyperplasia) and have undergone curative surgery but will not be receiving chemotherapy treatment; OR women who have not been diagnosed with any cancer.
