FDG-PET Pilot Study of Fatty Acid Metabolism in Depression and Suicide

Purpose
Prior research suggests that omega-3 fatty acids may help people with depression. This research study looks at how omega-3 fatty acids act on the brain, using MRI and PET scans. Participants will have brain scans before and after taking fish oil supplements for 6 weeks. If you are eligible and choose to participate, you will receive FREE fish oil supplements during the first 6 weeks of the study,
6 months of outpatient treatment for Major Depressive Disorder at NO COST to you and $300 compensation for your time and effort.

Inclusion Criteria:
Ages 18 to 55
Currently depressed
This study is also recruiting healthy volunteers, who will receive FREE fish oil supplements and $300 compensation.
