Using Two Antidepressants to Treat Depression

Purpose
Depressed outpatients will be treated with (determined by chance, like flipping a coin) one of two standard antidepressant medicines (escitalopram [Lexapro] or bupropion [Wellbutrin]) or both drugs for 12 weeks in order to determine whether using both medications together works better than either alone.

Criteria
Inclusion Criteria:
- Current Major Depression
- Not currently taking effective medication
- Not taking or willing to discontinue ineffective medication
- age 18-65
