Purpose

The study will create a DNA collection from over 3,000 people. This will permit scientists to search for depression-related genes. This study may lead to knowledge about the causes of depression and to improved treatments for depression in the future.

Eligibility

Ages Eligible for Study: 21 Years - 75 Years
Genders Eligible for Study: Both
This study is not recruiting Healthy Volunteers.

Criteria

Inclusion Criteria:
1) 21 years or older
2) 2 or more episodes of depression
3) depression began by age 30
4) has a brother, sister or parent who has had depression
